Greg Wilder
Crooner Greg Wilder:
is a foremost interpreter of the Big Band crooners from the
40's, 50's and 60's. Wilder grew up on New York's Lower East
Side and cut his teeth on Big Band music; always being put in
the spotlight by his family.
For
Greg, singing has been his passion since he was a kid and has
always felt a deep connection to Frank Sinatra. He likes the
same music and Greg's folks come from the same town in Sicily as
the Sinatra family, Agrigento. Greg said one of his earliest
movie recollections was a biopic of Jerome Kern when Sinatra
sang "Ol' Man River" in "Till the Clouds Roll by." Totally
connected to the music, he then took that connection to his
first talent show at P.S. 126 in Astoria where he won First
Prize for singing "Ol' Man River."
Greg
has performed in Canada, New Orleans, The Catskills, Las Vegas,
New York's Plaza Hotel,
New York Marriott Marquis Times Square,
Rock Center Hotel, and the
RAINBOW
ROOM!
It's True - When you can make it there, you can make it
anywhere!
Greg
is also a professor at Five Towns College where he works in the
Vocal Workshop.
Wilder
is continuing his mostly Sinatra Concerts with the Virgil Scott
Orchestra in Theatres and Parks throughout New York.
Audiences find this crooner to have the smooth voice of the
young Sinatra, the heart rendering feelings of the Saloon Singer
who can swing a tune as well.
Recently, a fan came up to Greg and said "When you sing swing or
ballad, I sense that you become the song." Thus, the his new CD
is aptly titled "The Song is You".
